Enter for the chance to win $50, $25, or a Hugs for Heroes frisbee!

What form should my message be in?

Entries may be in any form: a letter, poem, drawing, painting, song, video, or anything else you can imagine!

Who is eligible to enter the contest?

This contest is open to all ages!  We welcome individual or group submissions, but all work must be your own (no stealing someone else’s poem or video and pretending it’s yours!).

What can I win?

We will award a cash prize of $50 to the winner, and $25 to the first runner up.  Honorable mentions will receive a Hugs for Heroes frisbee!

When will the contest run and how can I submit my special Valentine’s Day message?

The contest will be open until February 12 at 5pm EST.  Entries may be submitted on Facebook, Twitter (@hugsforheroes), or via email (info@hugsforheroes.com).  If your submission contains a picture or video, you can either attach them or provide links to Youtube or another site where we can view your work!

Anything else I should know?

All submissions will be passed along to our troops overseas, and we will post our favorites on Facebook, Twitter and on www.hugsforheroes.com to celebrate the launch of our new website!

Update from Hugs for Heroes’ Advisor CPT Shaun Sullivan in Afghanistan

Captain Shaun Sullivan, currently deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, is a member of the Hugs for Heroes’ Board of Advisors.  If you missed our first post about Captain Sullivan, you can check it out here

.

An update from Captain Shaun Sullivan:

“It has now been about a month since I boarded an airplane at Joint
Base Elmendorf-Richardson and began my journey to Afghanistan. The first week was spent
traveling to the country. We started in Kyrgyzstan, where we underwent a day and a half of training. We then boarded an Air Force C-17 and flew to Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan to conduct a few more training exercises.  From BAF, I made two more moves before I finally arrived at the base where I will spend the majority of my time for the next year.

“My job for this deployment will be to train and advise an Afghan National Army Kandak (Battalion) staff. The Kandak we are working with has a Headquarters Company, a Recon Company, an Engineer Company, and an Artillery Company. We will oversee the development of the staff, as well as the training of the various companies by other US forces located at the base with us. So far, it has been an interesting experience.  In the small amount of time I’ve been here, the ANA have been very motivated to learn and improve. “
